The new Abarat book has arrived!  It's called Absolute Midnight.  I'm so excited. Can't wait to be able to sit down and read it. Clive Barker has such a wonderful imagination and I love all the paintings that he has throughout his books.  I think it's worth taking a look at the Abarat series for the paintings alone.  

For those who haven't heard of Abarat. The first book begins with a bored 15 year old girl named Candy Quackenbush who lives in a town called Chickentown where nothing much happens. It doesn't take many chapters before she finds herself in a completely new world called Abarat that is made up of 25 islands, all permanently fixed at a different hour of the day. The villian of the story lives on the hour of midnight. It's like Clive Barker lets his imagination loose to create all the different little worlds and citizens to suit each hour of the day.
